For engineering teams

Burnout workshops for software engineering teams

On-call, launches and constant context switching wear people down in ways a generic wellness webinar never touches. This is stress-management training that speaks your team's language.

Why engineering stress needs its own conversation

Engineering work has a particular kind of pressure. The stakes are visible, the work is rarely finished, and the people doing it tend to treat stress as a personal bug to fix quietly. Common pressure points include:

  • On-call and incidents. Broken sleep, adrenaline at 3 a.m. and then a normal workday.
  • Launch and deadline cycles. Sprints that run together with no recovery between them.
  • Always-on channels. Constant interruption, and the sense that you should always be reachable.
  • High standards and public review. Your work gets critiqued in the open, and it's easy to take it personally.
  • Rapid change. Shifting tools, reorganizations and the steady worry about falling behind.

The session is built around pressures like these, so nobody has to translate generic advice about "work-life balance" into the reality of their job.

What your team practices

The workshop follows three steps: recognize, regulate and recover.

  • Recognize. How stress shows up in your body, focus and mood, and how to tell a hard week from a slide toward burnout.
  • Regulate. Breathing and grounding techniques you can use in a meeting, before a difficult review or during an incident, without anyone noticing.
  • Recover. Cognitive reframing for the thoughts that keep you up after a bad deploy, plus routines that help you switch off.

Everyone leaves with take-home practices and simple routines to keep using after the call ends.

Why it's easy to run

  • Live over Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams or your platform of choice
  • No private room needed, so people can join from their desk during business hours
  • No one is asked to share detailed personal experiences
  • Not recorded
  • Available worldwide, in English, with flexible hours

Is this the right fit?

Good fit

  • Your team is delivering, but people are visibly tired
  • You've just come through, or are heading into, a crunch
  • You want your team to have shared language and skills for stress

Not the right tool

  • You want a workshop to stand in for fixing staffing or on-call load
  • Someone on your team needs individual clinical care
  • You need a compliance checkbox, not a real session

Not sure? Our buyer's guide covers when a workshop helps and when it doesn't.

Questions

Questions engineering leaders ask

Will my engineers roll their eyes?

Some might walk in skeptical, and that's fine. There are no trust falls and no forced sharing. Sessions focus on skills people can test for themselves, explained plainly, including where the evidence is limited.

Do people have to talk about their feelings in front of their manager?

No. Nobody is asked to discuss detailed personal experiences, so the session works with managers in the room. If your team would be more candid in a separate session for managers, we can talk about that when we scope it.

Can you schedule around our sprint and on-call rotation?

Yes. Sessions can be scheduled around sprint cycles, product launches and stand-ups, with flexible hours across time zones.

What about people on call during the session?

They can still join from wherever they are, on any device with internet access and a microphone. Sessions aren't recorded, so plan the time with your rotation in mind.

Is this therapy?

No. It's group stress-management training. It doesn't involve diagnosis or treatment, and it doesn't replace individual care.
